Founded by the Dutch watch enthusiasts based in Stockholm, Maen has built a reputation for crafting well-designed, accessible timepieces across a range of styles. The Brooklyn 36 collection continues that approach, drawing on vintage cues while adding an element of surprise. What appears to be a chronograph at first quickly reveals its twist: the Brooklyn is actually a dual-register calendar watch.
The dial is, without question, the centrepiece of the Brooklyn, and with good reason. Inspired by the vintage Pie-Pan designs of the ‘60s, it layers a sunburst centre with a recessed chapter ring and two sandblasted subdials, creating a dynamic sense of depth. Small lume dots punctuate each applied hour marker, a fine detail that adds more nuance to the dial. Dauphine hands, filled with Super-LumiNova, keep everything legible long after the light fades.
Compact, refined, and excellently executed, the Brooklyn is built around a 36mm stainless steel case measuring 11.10mm in height. Maen plays with contrast, alternating between satin-brushed surfaces on the bezel, lugs, and case sides with highly-polished chamfers on the case and bezel. Along the case flanks, precise cut-outs reveal the bezel insert, giving the design added dimension.

Chrono looks, calendar mind
The Brooklyn may resemble a chronograph at first glance, but instead it features a triple calendar complication. A day-date display is positioned at 6 o’clock, while the twin registers at 3 and 9 o’clock track the month of the year and the day of the month. Powering this layout is the Miyota 9122 automatic calibre, offering reliable performance alongside a 40-hour power reserve.
Built to move with you
The Brooklyn 36 is matched with a clean, versatile five-link steel bracelet, finished with a mix of brushed and polished surfaces. It’s fitted with a discreet butterfly clasp and features screwed links for easy adjustment. Designed with everyday wear in mind, the watch also offers 50 metres of water resistance, adding a welcome layer of versatility.
